Teaching:

MASK

Masks present something. They evoke and produce emotions. The aim of this course is to make students familiar with the history, technology and forms of masks and their importance for theatre. The course should also prepare students to be able to make masks as artifacts, works of art or parts of costume design and fashion. The course is closely connected to the Costume and Scenography course. It broadens students’ knowledge necessary for the Academic scenic project. Students’ experience from this course can be later applied practically at the school studio Marta, during Scenography Days or at Mask Festivals and other independent projects.

COSTUME AND SCENOGRAPHY

The initial aim of the course is a visual expression of emotional contrasts based on text, music or a work of art. The following lectures focus on complex art and scenographic solutions of a given topic. The topic, characters and visual relations in particular space are analyzed. Solution: analysis – associations – archetype – internal reality – exploring characters and space in both a historical and contemporary context – finding dramatic elements – relations and their mutual interaction in the process of drama creation
