Jan Štěpánek lived in Germany and in the USA from 1982 till 1992. He studied scenography at DAMU under the supervision of professor J. Dušek and graduated in 1998. He cooperated with directors J. A. Pitínský, J. Nebeský, M. Františák, J. Pokorný, P. P. Procházka, L. Engelová, Z. Dušek, J. Jirků, J. Krofta and M. Krobot in all the most important theaters in the Czech Republic. He became a lecturer at the Scenography Studio at DIFA JAMU in 2003.

associative and analytic work with space and fi gure, associative reading of text and finding sources of inspiration, working with personal history, illustration and free creation, defining oneself towards the story and the space that I create or I deal with, figure, space and one´s own position, analysis and correction of one´s sensibility: how effective can my work be manipulation in public space, architecture drawing and drawing according a model – how effective my drawing is, one´s own graphic activity and academic role, application of a technological method of solution within the framework of the academic task and one´s own work, multimedial creation within the framework of solution of the academic task and one´s own work.
